Tech-Specs:
This beautiful 36' diameter two story monolithic dome is made from 4" thick 3 pound high density poly-urethane foam, over 4" thick steel re-inforced concrete (5000psi strength). All dormers are steel re-inforced concrete and tied into the main dome structure using rebar.
The dome sits on a steel re-inforced concrete pad which has a radon barrier linked to a passive radon vent system.
The interior is framed using hand-picked lumber (mostly No.1s). The framing has fire blocking every 4' (usually blocking is every 8'). All floor joists are 2"x12", topped with 2"x8" as the finished flooring material. This combination makes an incredibly strong but flexible (sprung) floor. The floors and walls are tied to the main dome structure using over 900 1/4" x 3-1/4" Tapcon concrete anchors. Each floor has a sheer weight of approximately 150 tonnes. The dome weight is approximately 55 tonnes.

In my wife's words - This place is solid. It will survive a hurricane, an earthquake and a forest fire. The house is fully insured as masonry construction. We called it a concrete home with concrete walls and concrete roof, because wording it this way gives very good insurance rates.

Heating costs during the winter are only about 20-25% of what you can expect a house of similar size to require. Because the concrete is on the inside, it functions as heatmass, and this creates an R-value of about 60 throughout. Therefore the dome is nice and cool in the summer and cozy and warm in the winter.

Usually the first word that escapes someone's mouth when entering the dome for the first time is "WOW", and this little word basically says it all!
